i'd also add, that it is better to tile onto a "tile backer board" which is screwed to the studs. So in future, just install 12.5mm tile backer board instead of 12.5mm plasterboard

Yes all you need to do is prime first to ensure that board does not take all of moisture out of adhesive You can either use a pva mix or a primer do the night before you intend to tile
You can tile directly on to plaster boards
