Bathroom nightmare

Posted by Indigo Goss, on
I was recommended a builder who is also on here with a 5 Star review, all the images he showed me of work he’d done looked amazing the job was meant to take a week and a half to complete, now on the 5th week, he never turns up on time and when he does he normally only works for a few hours. I’ve just come back from being away and the tiling work done is unbelievably apaling the insert shelf’s aren’t straight at all, I haven’t had a shower or a bathroom at home for this whole time... I don’t know what to do! He is walking all over me and I’m so so upset and angry. Feel way over my head. Wish I had my old bathroom back! Please help. The company is DTn Plumbing

The problem you may find is that if you have paid a majority of the money and there is still alot of work to do or to be corrected it may be like climbing a hill against the wind. Sometimes the best thing to do is to cut it short and seek out a reputable company that can complete and rectify the works. It will cost you some more of your hard earned money and may take abit longer but in my experience its better to complete a job correctly rather than to settle for substandard works. We have carried out jobs where the whole bathroom has had to be ripped out and redone as a result of poor workmanship by previous tradsmen. First step is to carry out what Peter has suggested and if you feel intimidated then get a family member or friend to come along to the meeting to assist you. Any further help or advice needed please feel free to call our office. @PlusDecorInteriors

Hi Indigo, Peter has some great advice above. Our team are also here to help. If you drop them an email at support(at)ratedpeople(dot)com with the above info, any developments since then and your contact details, they'll be back in touch to help. You'll want to replace '(at)' and '(dot)' with the symbol/punctuation. Apologies - the system won't let us type those characters through Ask an expert! Thanks, Natalie Ask an expert team

I’m sorry that your having so much hassle over this bathroom project Hopefully you haven’t paid this builder all the money Its probably a good idea to get in touch with the team at rated people to see if they can help the situation Also I would sit down with the builder with a list of all your issues and try to get an agreement in place where the problems can get sorted out in a reasonable time frame put it in writing as well and get him to sign to it I hope that you can get this sorted out and that you end up with the bathroom you wanted
