Moving the position of internal doors

Posted by Jason Cheung, on
Currently in my house, all the doors are at an angle and I wanted to straighten it out. To achieve this, it looks likes to me the opennings themselves need to be enlarged by an inch or two. Some of the walls are brick and maybe load bearing. Do I need planning permission?

Hi. Don't increase the height reduce it. Then you are not doing anything structural. Remove door facings and checks bring the header down level cut top of the door to suit and refit facings and checks. You might have to tidy up the plaster work at the top of the door. Hope this helps.
