Cupboard & shelve fitting

Posted by Mark Veldon, on
I am looking to get a new cupboard and shelve fitting in my kitchen. I would however also need help with sourcing the materials. Is this something a tradesman could do as part of the job or would I need to provide these? Thanks, Mark

Wherever possible I always try to source, or at least specify the materials for a job, to ensure I'm not working with sub standard materials, as much as anything else. A good tradesman should have an account with a kitchen supplier and would be able to offer you a good selection and either pick up or arrange delivery. I'd recommend rigid units. Post the job, specify you need the materials sourcing, and tradesmen will be in touch.

Hi Mark, it could be either, but if i was you, i would choose my own simply because you know what you want, where as the trades- man mentality tends to be; not my house and therefor this will do. also the quality is likely to suffer due to the fact time is money to a tradesman and spending time sourcing material could easily be spent doing work. this is on the assumption that you are randomly picking a tradesman. if however its some one you know and is of good integrity - only a few of us left, then why not ask him if he knows where best to buy and get some discount along the way and put money in your pocket. if you provide the materials your self you may save because you are looking for the cost of labour only. if on the other hand he does the lot then the products are covered under his grantee; i assume. good luck.

What would you like to do now?
