I'm assuming this is oil based paint. Almost certainly due to lack of stirring of one of the new environmentally friendly reduced VOC content paints. These need A LOT of stirring before use and can be very slow drying. I would also add at least some white spirit despite instructions not to on the tin. If it's drying at all, ie. becoming tacky, it will dry eventually, maybe after a week or so. If it isn't, get a white spirit soaked rag and remove as much as possible and then allow to dry. Kind regards Paul Collins

Hi Mark, There could be a number of reasons as to why your paint could not be drying quick enough, have you made sure to remove all laquer from the surface of the wood before painting. Or have you bought a paint because it is priced cheaply which would obviously take longer to dry than normal. Or maybe it could be down to the moist air in the room that your table may be sitting in, make sure your room is moister free and warm enough to allow your paint to dry at room temperature.

What would you like to do now?
