How to start any work without review

I used the interior paint from Benjamin Moore to paint the heating pipes in my apartment. It smells when the heater is on. Is it toxic?

I recently moved into an old terrace house and I'm about to paint it starting with the hallway and landing. I've painted a house before, but that was my previous house which was to be a new-build. I would usually repaint the walls white every few years. It was easy, and I never needed to use undercoat or spend hours preparing the walls as they were in perfect condition and already white. Now, things are a bit different with this victorian house I've just moved into. It hasn't been painted for quite some time, and it shows. What I can see so far are cracks, gaps, and it looks like some of the walls were covered with lining paper and painted over. Overall, the walls aren't shockingly bad so I'm pretty confident I can do this work myself. I can use the money I save to buy flooring to cover the horrible floorboards. My questions are: 1. Judging from the photos I provided (see link below), how would you best prepare/repair the walls and ceilings so that they are ready for primer/undercoat? 2. I want a matt white finish, this will match my living room. Would I need to apply primer and/or an undercoat to the walls before painting them? (They're already white) 3. What tools/materials do I need to buy to carry out this work effectively, specifically, tools needed to repair the walls? My current to-buy list looks like this: Paint - Dulux Trade Undercoat Paint - Brilliant White - Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt Emulsion Paint - Pure Brilliant White - Dulux Trade Quick-Dry Satinwood Paint - Pure Brillian White (Waterbased) Paint Accessories - Paint Bucket - Paint Tray - Dust Sheets - Paint Brushes - Rollers Wall Preparation Stuff - White Spirit - Putty & Joint Knife - Electric Sander/ Sanding Head/ Sanding Blocks - Caulking Gun Other - Ladder - Dust mask - Hawk I'm also open to suggestions/recommendations, i.e. quality paint etc. I'll be using the information that you provide as a quick guide, so I just want to say thanks in advance. I want to redecorate the bedroom. The old wallpaper had a non paper pattern along the top that was difficult to remove with using the steamer. The wallpaper also had cracks showing through and some paper coming off. A bit of the paper ripped off easily but the rest won't come off using the steamer or wallpaper stripper. Bits of paper come off using the scraper but you have to keep chipping away and it doesn't come off like paper but hard pieces. Any ideas welcome.

I want to do a board and batten wall paneling feature wall and most diy videos show it using adhesives like no nails or pink grip. However I saw a few say to use nail guns so it's easier to remove in the future - while some say to use both. Is this one of those projects that will always be harder to remove and require adhesive? Or could I install it all using a brad nailer? Our house is probably like 20 years old so pretty strong walls but I'm pretty new to DIY so am not aware of all the risks. Any advice?

Can I paint directly onto plasterboard? The builder has done all the filling but I read that plasterboard is absorbent so needed to know if I can paint directly on it
