Trademens Thoughts

Posted by Edward Thompson, on
How much have the job lead prices been reduced? They don't appear to be any cheaper to me! You would think there would be a good reduction to off set the loss of report a lead. Any thoughts please?

Hello Edward, With out you they can not operate. Some of you properly live of this site some don't. But if you want to help the guys who do then don't buy a lead for a week to show that a change is needed. So all January don't buy a lead to show you are not happy with this change. Regards Michael.

I seem to have stirred up a hornets nest! It's good to see the tradesmen of this country showing some backbone we've been trampled on for too long, although it would have been nice to see some of the more prolific experts opinions! These changes are not for the better and are going to cost the tradesmen money, you can not sell someone something that doe's not exist! Rated People are presumably saving a considerable sum by not having to issue refunds and also on the administrative side but there is no sign of this being passed on. The 'Report a Lead' function needs to be reinstated immediately.A tradesmens forum would be an excellent idea, 'united we stand ,divided we fall' Enough said I think, over to you at Rated People!

Hi Edward totally agree I only use rated because of the lead credit I will only buy lead if I am 1st now to stand half a chance to quote how can they charge for a lead if your not able to quote to me that is not a lead if all done this they will only sell lead once & that will not benefit rated or customer regards Danny

Hello Edward, I have to agree with you. Reduction is almost invisible. We'll have to become a good psychologists to read between the lines - is it real job or not.

Hi Edward I agree with you the reduction is almost invisible I think rp are going to see a large reduction in leads being purchased I know I will be thinking twice about any purchase from now on . Alan

Hi Edward I'm not sure if this price drop (i couldn't see any difference either) and no credit for wasted leads will work. I nearly bought one tonight that was 24 hours old but didn't bother just in case it was a waste of time.

I totally agree I had a word with one of the rp staff all she can tell is that there is a 10% reduction I also asked her What if a client doesn't respond to my calls or emails her response was we cant guarantee you the lead Well that's not good enough I think rp should have the courtesy of answering our questions instead of fobbing us off with there scripted automated message that it works out better for us well a load of rubbish they make enough money off us

hello edward, totally agree,we are all going to give the 50 50 jobs a miss, there are so many timewasters on here that i report on average one out of every four jobs,as for a reduction, cant see a lot of difference.

I TOTALLY AGREE. It makes it hard to decide whether to take the risk or not. In fact ever since they did this I have not purchased any leads. To my mind it is unnecessarily GREEDY!

I agree. Also, the most compelling thing about ratedpeople was the security of the credit function. As a roofer (i cant say for other trades) some of the leads cost upward of £40/£50 per time. often, when the customer is contacted, it is something they are only looking into as part of a prospective property purchase, or as a recommendation on a survey. Therefor the work doesn't exist, so where is the security? When will a spokesperson for RP come and answer some of these questions??

If you buy a lead and do not get a chance to quote what are you even buying ? They need to be carful as people will just feel ripped off and go els were

Can't see much of a reduction either, when it was announced I assumed the lead prices would fall by about 50% to make it worth taking the risk of buying a dud, judging by past experience. What if you pay £40 for a lead and it turns out to be someone looking for employment? Still no timing on the job descriptions! Nice to be able to communicate with other R.P. tradesmen, we should set up a forum before this avenue's blocked. Kind regards Paul

The problem with Rated People is that they have over the years gradually become even more remote from the trades. In that as with many companies BT, Tesco Masks & Spencer and so on. They have failed to understand the basic principle of selling in that you can only get what people are prepared to pay. In this case us the tradesmen are at the point and in truth have been for a number of years where we cannot pay £50 for a lead price on say heating etc> where we used to be able to take say 5 leads in an area and hope that you would get one job it worked > You cannot do this now at the prices offered, and have not been able to for a few years. Also bear in mind the person posting the job declares a budget to which the costs of the lead are figured. the customer does not know how much the job will be and includes say everything not just the heating or plumbing costs but all aspects. Hence the costs of the lead inflate don't they .

Hi I agree with all. I notice that instead of responding to the other thread that was started on the 14th on this subject Rated People have simply removed it !! I also agree with Michael Tucker that we should not buy another lead until the report a lead function is reinstated ! We can not simply moan about this .....we will be ignored! We must All take a stand as this is simply wrong as stated earlier, we can not be expected to purchase a lead that does not exsist ! I saw two last night that I would normally have purchased total cost £88 + VAT but never as I was too worried I was wasting my money ! I would have been first too but this does not guarantee anything !

I have just bought a lead & phoned the customer straight away, only to be told...........Oh no it's alright I don't need a plumber now.......I suppose I'd better take that off. This is the first lead I have bought since the changes. The hardest bit of this to swallow is I WAS THE FIRST!. That means two more of us are going to buy a lead that is not even valid in the eyes of the customer. I KNOW YOU READ THESE POSTS RATED PEOPLE, as I have seen your responses on other threads. Please can you justify how you see fit to keep our money. to my mind the only way this could be justifiable is if you had safe guards in place to stop this happening which you do not. I feel it would be much fairer if the customers had to give you bank details when they place a lead & be instructed that if they do not text stop before a tradesman buys the lead IT WILL BE THEM WHO COVER THE COST. I think that will give the customer more of an incentive to stop the lead when it is no longer valid & all so make it a little bit less of a lottery for the tradesmen that are trying to earn a living.

How can we be reponsible for a customer not responding to us or Rateds callback, i will be very selective if not stop using the site, they are not the only jobsite.
