Laying a patio

Posted by Vanessa Fadden, on
Should the foundation of a patio be laid upon the existing grass and is it normal for the foundation hardcore to be spilling out at the edges. Also, if pointing using a resin mortar, should this be a thin layer covering the cement based mortar joins or should it be used to fill the gaps entirely? Many thanks

Hi Depending on slabs you will need the sub base , in no case over the grass and for best results needs to be edged at least 200 mm dept for type 1, sharp sand or mixed mortar Needs to be clear 150 mm fro DPC Joints easy with ready mix resin that you will just brushed in Regards peter CFC LIMITED

should not be laid on grass should be dug out and at least 4 inches of well tamped or rollered hardcore and should be laid with a slight slope away from the house to run water away from the building it should not be above the house dpc level if flags are good and firm it can be pointed with sand and cement
