Hi Jason Both keith and philip are correct For NICEIC you can check online to ensure your electrician is a registered member, if in doubt, never let the electrician carry out work until you are certain Certificates should take between 1-3 weeks

Tradesman should always be able to show certification and you should always ask to see it and check that they also have pubic liability as well ,personally I have Disclosure Scotland as well as my SJIB CARD AND CERTIFICATES at all times with me to show I am I registered 17th edition electrician . Thanks Keith .

Any electrician changing a consumer unit should issue you with a certificate for the work carried out. If they are a member of an organisation such as the NICEIC or NAPIT you could speak to these regarding any issues you are having.

Hi Jason, A trades person should be able to provide you with qualifications and details of certification bodies they're part of (like Part P) before work has carried out. If the tradesperson was sourced through a job posted on Rated People, please email support(at)ratedpeople.com and we will investigate this further for you. Thanks, Josh Ask an expert team
