Can the flue from a warm air unit be repaired if it has cracks in it

Posted by philly chakanyuka, on
We have a very old boiler and we had to have the gas shut off recently. we where told there is a small hole in the flue and it would be unsafe to use it without either repairing it or installing a new boiler. since british gas did the check all they seem to be doing is pushing my elderly mum to buy one of their very expensive boilers. i would just like to know if the flue is repairable and if the worst is confirmed a realistic cost of installation for a new system

Hi Philly I would suggest to replaced flue as it can not be repair. If your mother is on benefits try to look on internet for government boiler grant scheme she might be eligible to get heating system replaced free of charge. Best regards Rafal

Hi there If there's a hole or crack in the flue, get the thing replaced, don't take any chances, cost wise don't get British gas there to expensive, put an add on here and you will get three competitive quotes , check there feed back before you get them out to quote, ideal logic plus boilers and some baxi's are doing 5 and 7 year warranties worth a look at Hope this is of use Regards Iain
