You can cut it in the loft and pass it down. This way there will be no joins.

Our tv cable comes through the loft and into a bedroom, the previous owner of property covered it in paint and it is filthy. Is it possible to cut the cable a few inches down from its entry point and add new clean cable? Any other solutions? Thanks
