I would take a look at the actual socket, remove it from the wall and check the connection into the plate, they're often the problem!. If its a duplexed or quadplexed plate (meaning it has sky feeds andTV/radio feeds) try the cable on another outlet on the same plate you may find your signal isn't passing on the outlet your using good luck!
