Posted by Matt Ayres, on
I have employed someone from Rated people and he wants half of he cost of the job before he starts, is this wise to do this?

Hi Matthew, This is becoming more and more the norm as most businesses struggle with cash flow and the fact of being knocked(not paid for completion.) I would suggest if you agree with this to at least find out where the company trades from. Kind regards Paul Davis Total roofing care.

Read his feedback to see if people are happy with his work. I generally dont ask for anything in advance for jobs under 2k. Is it a large garage, how much are his costs? Derek. mccormackroofing.co.uk

I wouldn't recommend it personally all questions spring to mind. No payment till you are completely satisfied, that's the way we work anyway. Also remember thew roofer isn't from Rated, merely on it!

Hi Matthew, I would advise you to only pay up to 20% of the overall cost to cover the tradesman's tools and travel costs. I hope this helps. If you need any help negotiating with the tradesman, please feel free to give our customer care team a ring on 0207-198-8500 (Mon to Fri, 9-6) as they'll be more than happy to help you. Best Wishes, Adam [email protected]
