I have over 35 years experience in the building industry with my back ground being carpentry and joinery. Working on roofs, floor joists right through to the completed build of new houses and extensions. Vast knowledge of kitchen fitting and window fitting. I have a vast array of trades working along side me so can bring any project to completion.
Andrew did a great job fitting the extra units, liaising with Howdens and getting everything ordered. He worked efficiently and was very helpful throughout. Washing machine was moved without hassle and he sorted out a shelf problem in a tall cupboard for me. Highly recommend and would definitely use again. Very satisfied customer.

Hello, I’m Richard. I’m a carpenter, originally from Bath, with over 20 years’ experience in the trade. Whilst carpentry is my specialism, I am happy, and able, to do all types of building work. I used to sub-contract to bigger firms but, this year, I started Black Dog Construction. My business is named after my Labrador, Luna; it’s her little face you see on my logo. She likes to come to work with me, although she still has a lot to learn about carpentry. My story is a bit unusual so let me bring you up to speed. I started this line of work before meeting my wife, Jen. We began our relationship just as she was about to join the Army. Being married to an Army lawyer comes with its challenges, not least because it’s impossible to win an argument against her. However, the main challenge we’ve faced is that we’ve lived apart a lot. We got married when Jen was posted to Germany. Since then, we’ve lived in Northern Ireland, London, Australia, Shrivenham, Middlesex and now York. To ensure some stability, I have generally stayed working for a firm in Suffolk (near my wife’s family) which has involved a lot of weekend commutes and time apart from Jen. The commute to Australia was a bit too far so I joined her there (it really wasn’t a tough decision). The two years we were there presented a wonderful opportunity to learn how carpentry was done Down Under. I came back with a lot of good friends, new skills and great memories. When we found out about the posting to York, we decided it was too far to commute and that we were done living apart (although I suspect this was more to do with Jen missing the dog than because she missed me). So Black Dog Construction was founded and here we are. Whilst working in Suffolk, I developed something of a niche in period property renovation and I understand the sensitivity required in conserving the history of these buildings. That said, I have built a lot of houses from scratch whilst working in Australia. My experience is, therefore, extremely broad and I take great pride in what I do for a living. What can I say? Richard was the perfect choice for the job not only did he fit the laminate flooring he fitted the skirting boards and a dozen internal doors. We were happy for him to have a key and come & go to suit himself. Found on Rated People. Bathroom was fitted to a seemingly good standard and as expected, but over a week later a mark appeared on the kitchen ceiling this became bigger their was a leak coming from the new bathroom. Whilst issue was resolved, this puts a question mark over the quality of the workmanship. The water marks on the ceiling needed sorting this lead to a painter and plasterer visiting, but the painter expected the paint to have been dropped off, it wasn’t. Months later the job remains not done.

These guys have just finished our En-Suite upgrade , they have retiled , fitted a new shower cubicle , toilet and Basin and vanity unit. Turned up when they said they would and grafted none stop, great work ethic, they cleaned up at the end of each day and took away all packaging ect, the end result is to a very high standard, so much so that we are getting them back in to do the same to our House bathroom. I would say not the cheapest, but very much value for money, you definitely get what you pay for

After a few days, coming back to the house, the material bubbled so my floor had small marks. So they either didn't air the material out properly with the rack or they have mixed the material for too long that they introduced too much air in the mixing. Just make sure and remind them not to introduce too much air when mixing the material.
