What solar panel grants and loans am I eligible for?
If you have an electricity metre (including prepayment metres) then you should be eligible for a Green Deal Finance Plan. This allows you to spread the cost of your solar panel installations across a 10-25 year period. To apply, you’ll first need to get your property assessed. You can find an assessor here. Once you have the report you’ll be able to apply for a Green Deal Finance Plan.
Until the 31st of March, 2027, the government is helping homeowners improve their energy efficiency by allowing households to pay 0% VAT on the installation of all energy-saving materials. According to the UK, this could save a typical family around £1,000 in installation fees, as well as an additional £300 a year on energy bills.
Lastly, the Government’s Energy Company Obligation scheme (ECO4) is designed to help low-income households save energy. With ECO4, you can apply to have fully-funded or discounted solar panels installed in your home. You can check your eligibility here.
