When is 50% of a bathroom refurb project deemed...

Posted by Drew Heppenstall, on
I am in dispute with building contractor who claims that additional payment is due on the basis that 50% of the project (Complete bathroom refurb) is now complete. Based on the contracted tasks below is this project 50% complete? a) Remove old bathroom suite and tiles - Complete b) Move 3 pipes to be under floorboards - Complete (This part turned into replumbing all of the pipework under bathroom floor) c) Lay new water resistent floor boards - Not complete What has been laid has a large "burn mark" caused by plumber plumbing in the free standing bath taps in the wrong place! d) Fit Free Standing Bath Taps - Incomplete as they have been plumbed in the incorrect place. Despite telling exactly where they needed to be these have been plumbed in in the wrong place an damage caused to new floor panel e) Move light switch to outside and fit new light in ceiling - Not complete (Cable has been moved, switch attached but it is just hanging on the end, not attached to the wall, f) Plaster/skim the walls and the ceiling - Not started g) Tile the floor - Not started h) Tile the walls - Not started i) Fit the bath - Not started J) Fit the radiator - Not started K) Fit the toilet and sink - Not started L) Remove all of the rubbish - Incomplete this is all just piled up on front drive part in blue bags most not. Would appreciate any comments/advice especially as the contractor involved came from this site and I quote from him "Clearly you do not want to understand the process of this highly skilled and qualified job." Many thanks
