GLS did some work on our cottage, including renovating a staircase, fitting skirting boards and door frames, hanging doors and installing a built-in wardrobe. This work was quite complicated due to the age and “character” of the cottage (no straight lines!), plus working in a busy family home. They did an absolutely fantastic job. Truly awful experience. The garage conversion was ok (bar the space around the electrical back boxes being stuffed with newspaper) but the flat refurbishment was a disaster. It started ok but as the tasks became more complex, the quality of work declined. The kitchen needed 3 fits, the bathroom has had to be rebuilt, the wiring has dropped into the walls, the joinery is execrable and the radiators don’t work. The job also took 16 weeks rather than 8.

Andrew and his team did a complete gut out, redesign and extension to our house, the work was completed a year ago but I forgot to write a review. 3 new bathrooms, new plumbing, electric, everything. The work was completed to a very high standard and he said he guaranteed it, and in the last 9 months, any issue that has come up he has come over within days and repaired anything immediately. Very honest and reliable builder

Perfect - is all I can say. Gave me a quote as part of an insurance claim. They are really diligent; hard working and actually did more than I expected them to do. They quoted 5 to 7 days to do the work but it suited us all for them to spend a couple of hours longer than normal to get the work done in 5 days rather than come back after the weekend. I'm thrilled. I'm hoping they'll come back again if/when I have more work for them. They'd be most welcome and I'd be assured of a great job.

We are a small two man team including me (Gary) a carpenter by trade with 35 years experience and Jay my right hand man who is by trade a plumber with 25 years in the trade. We have a team of other trades we can call upon whenever necessary including electricians, plasterers, painters, tilers etc and can do any job that may come along. Although always being self-employed, I have been working for the same guy for the last seven years. I was originally asked to fit three kitchens on some posh flats in St Albans. This expanded to all the kitchens in the development and then on to all the 2nd fix carpentry, doors, skirting, architraves etc. In short I ended up staying seven years which only ended recently. I met Jay four years ago when he came to work on one of the jobs I was on. We liked each other immediately. We worked together for three years for the same guy (mentioned earlier) and then, a year ago decided to branch out on our own. We’d both decided that work had got a bit staid and repetitive and thought that we needed a new challenge to get the blood pumping again. I live in Leighton Buzzard and Jay in Milton Keynes so we tend to concentrate our efforts in finding work to a 25 mile radius of both these places although for the right job we can be flexible. We pride ourselves in our high standard of workmanship and professionalism and like to think that we offer real value for money.
Gary did a very good job of building a wooden structure for my pergola. His craftsmanship was very good and he was sensitive to the work that had already been done in the garden. It was, however a few inches shorter than requested. The brief was to build a 'sheltered area' but he did not return as promised to refit the canopy. He had to attend a funeral, so since this was the possible reason I would still recommend him.
